Abstract

Well “FB-20” in the “LNV” field is an oil well experiencing declining performance due to an unproductive formation zone in the FA-20 layer at a depth of 2410–2411 mMD. One method for remediating or sealing unproductive formation zones is the squeeze cementing method. This study aims to plan a squeeze cementing job for the “FB-20” well in the “LNV” field using the hesitation method to effectively seal the perforated zone. The research methodology began with the collection of well data, cement data, and additive data, which were then analyzed through calculations of casing, tubing, and annulus capacities. These calculations aimed to determine the required slurry volume, establish the additive composition in the cement mixture, and prepare an estimate of the necessary operational costs. The results of the study indicate that the total slurry volume requirement is 4.1 bbl, with a cement quantity of 15 sacks. The additive composition used consists of 510.66 lbs of silica flour, 3.15 gal of dispersant, 0.45 gal of retarder, 9.60 gal of fluid loss control, 12.00 gal of cement bonding agent, and 0.75 gal of defoamer. The estimated total operation cost was Rp. 312,270,276, covering material and labor costs. This study demonstrates that the application of the hesitation method is highly effective in optimizing cement placement without causing formation damage, thereby enhancing the success of zone isolation. Based on this analysis, accurate material planning and cost estimation play a crucial role in supporting the success of the squeeze cementing operation.
